Cooking with children can be a nightmare, and let’s just not mention the mess. To get them involved in cooking and making food and to teach them their way around the kitchen, you do need to just take deep breaths and let them get stuck in. Don’t expect perfection, and don’t serve to paying guests and you’ll be fine. We had a sneak peek at the My Little Sous Chef Book, which has an interesting concept – there are adult recipes and alongside that you have the child friendly version, with illustrations and simple instructions. The illustrations are simple and fun, and the recipes are designed to be easy to make together.
Here’s a little video we made of me, my daughter (5) and my youngest son (nearly 2) giving it a go. They turned out really well and they enjoyed eating them too! The adults liked the beetroot hummus, but the littles were a bit scared to give that a go. I’m going to be making them again for family at Christmas.
